The roots of the practice date back to 2007 when Ryan and Hannon met at the University of Virginia. Ryan was a graduate student, working part time in the athletic department, and Hannon was an assistant coach for the highly successful men’s lacrosse team. Over the years they remained friends as Ryan graduated from law school and Hannon entered the Marine Corps. They went on to represent their respective communities as, hopefully, fair and reasonable prosecutors: Ryan in the Orange Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office and Hannon as a Marine Corps Judge Advocate and Special Assistant US Attorney.
In 2012, Ryan went into private law practice, and Hannon, after leaving active duty in the Marine Corps in 2016, joined to form Rakness & Wright PLC. Rakness & Wright PLC represents clients in criminal, family, and injury cases in the courtroom and at the negotiating table throughout central Virginia.
